Today (2022/5/24) the KMT held a press conference and Deputy Secretary General Yu-min Wang invited tourism industries to talk about the situation they are facing during the new pandemic. Due to the new coronavirus outbreak and the government’s policy of “coexisting with the virus”, people have reduced travel and having meals in restaurants to avoid the chance of getting infected, which has caused the tourism industry to have no time to deal with the declines of customer flow and income. The KMT argues that the government’s relief policy should be “instant, accurate, and conform to the requirement”, and should not let the tourism industry face the torment itself.
The KMT has five suggestions for the government regarding the difficult situation that the tourism industry has faced.
1. The government relief policy should be under the rule of “instant, accurate, and conform to the requirement” to help the industry get through the situation.
2. The government should provide an allowance to employees, so they don’t have to face the pressure of unpaid leave and layoffs.
3. The government should relax the limits and provide comprehensive support to help the industry.
4. The government should extend the relief loans and provide a prime rate to the industry.
5. The government should set a precise condition of entry for the tourism industry to prepare.
The KMT emphasizes that the government’s policy of “coexisting with the virus” has caught the people and the whole industry off guard, especially the tourism industry facing the problem of survival. The government should supply a relief policy that really helps the society to get through the pandemic situation.
