Foreign minister Joseph Wu has claimed that Taiwan is doing its best to avoid war and will maintain the state quo and will not seek formal independence during an exclusive interview by National Public Radio (NPR). Alfred Lin, Deputy Director of the KMT Culture and Communications Committee said that when last year Joseph Wu was added to the PRC Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council’s “Taiwan independence supporter list”, he proudly responded that “It is an honor.” But now Wu stepped back on Taiwan Independence, the KMT gives recognition to the DPP government for being willing to face the truth.

Alfred Lin said KMT’s policy line has always been opposed to Taiwan Independence and maintaining peace of Taiwan strait and area security, avoiding war and supporting democracy and freedom in Taiwan. The KMT believes a stable and steady Taiwan Strait is in the best interest of the United State and is the most popular position of the Taiwan people.

Alfred Lin appeals that the peace of Taiwan strait is the shared goal between Taiwan and the United State. The DPP government should throw away ideology, and become realistic to international situations, and defend Taiwan security with KMT.
