KMT Chairman Eric Chu met with Acting Director Mr. Norikazu Suzuki, Director of the Department of International Affairs Mr. Hayato Suzuki, and other members from the LDP Department of Youth this afternoon at KMT HQ. The delegation, accompanied by Deputy Representative Yokochi Akira of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, exchanged views with Chairman Chu on various issues between Japan and Taiwan. The atmosphere of the conversation was cordial and lively.

Chairman Chu expressed his sincere welcome to the visit of Acting Director Norikazu Suzuki and his delegation. He knew that the delegation had visited the tomb of former President Lee Teng-hui, who worked tirelessly for Japan-Taiwan relations throughout his life. The friendship between the KMT and the LDP has a long history, and many of the KMT party members began their relationship with their good friends in Japan with the LDP Department of Youth. He hopes that the KMT youth members of the Legislative Yuan and City Council will have the opportunity to visit Japan, and pass on this friendship from generation to generation.

Chairman Chu emphasized that the R.O.C. and Japan have been cooperating closely in various areas, including trade, culture, agriculture, medical care, technology, and tourism. In the face of sudden catastrophes such as an earthquake, Taiwan and Japan have tried their best to give each other assistance, especially at the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic. Japan was the first country to help Taiwan.
