In response to Su Tseng-Chang, the head of the administrative organ, publicly acknowledging in the Legislative Yuan on the 8th that the cargo plane of China Airlines that included the image of Taiwan as part of its livery at the end of 2020 could not fly out, Lin Jiaxing, Deputy Director of the KMT Cultural and Communication Committee, said that Premier Su is willing to come to his senses, abandon ideology, and agree with the KMT’s pragmatic propositions on international relations and cross-strait exchanges are still worthy of affirmation. Lin Jiaxing called on Premier Su to bear in mind the seven-character motto that “it is important to fly out”, to do really useful things for Taiwan, and not to abuse the name change issue in the fields of culture, sports, economic, trade, and financial exchanges, etc. simply because of ideology. Individuals should neither engage in small acts to disturb the people, nor endanger Taiwan’s efforts to join the international stage.

Lin Jiaxing pointed out that Premier Su personally confirmed that changing the livery to make the plane unable to fly out fully proves that the DPP authorities’ promotion of “China Airlines’ correct name” has become a “getting hyper by themselves” scam that manipulates ideology and pays lip service to false words. The DPP government should not only apologize to “die-hard” supporters, but also apologize to the people of Taiwan for abusing public funds and possibly causing inconvenience to aviation.

Lin Jiaxing said that at the end of 2020, Transportation Minister Lin Jialong boasted about what he can do, wanting to push China Airlines to change its name. The KMT immediately created a “Countdown Timer to China Airlines’ Name Change”, but did not expect that after 727 days, Lin Jialong not only abandoned post before he could succeed, but also compromised with the DPP Central Committee to change the campaign and was beaten out by Premier Su, which greatly hurt the credibility of Lin Jialong and even the entire DPP government.

Lin Jiaxing criticized that the Tsai government likes to mess with the opposition parties as the common travelers between Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China, but when the Taiwan authorities’ own perverse behavior makes Taiwanese planes unable to fly out, such as with the 2018 push for a new name for Taiwan’s participation in the Tokyo Olympics almost affected the athletes’ opportunity to compete, the rights and interests of the people are damaged and Taiwan is hindered from going to the world.

Lin Jiaxing appealed to all Tsai government officials to learn from Premier Su’s rare pragmatism, and let go of the bad habit of engaging in ideology and small acts in non-governmental exchanges such as culture, sports, economics, trade, and finance, which have nothing to do with politics. This is especially true when at the moment people’s livelihood are at risk with prices soaring and the COVID-19 raging on the island. The people are all worried and ask the Government to solve people’s livelihood problems. The KMT will continue to vigilantly watch out for and speak up for the people.
