The Kuomintang (KMT) on September 4 held a televised platform presentation for the upcoming chairmanship election. In accordance with the order of the draw, the four candidates vying for the post, i.e., incumbent Chairman Johnny Chiang, Principal Chang Ya-chung of the Sun Yat-sen Academy, former Chairman and former New Taipei Mayor Eric Chu, and former Changhua County Executive Cho Po-yuan, each took turns to set forth their policy visions and ambitions.
The televised KMT chairman election platform presentation was held in the afternoon of September 4 at the TVBS building in Neihu District, Taipei, and the two-hour session was streamed live by TVBS. The conference proceeded in three stages. The first stage was for the candidates to expound on their individual ambitions regarding policies and visions, as each candidate took turns in accordance to the order of the draw. The second stage was opened to media questions, three senior reporters were especially invited to ask questions and the four candidates in turn elaborated on their policy stance and concrete actions planned.
The 2021 chairmanship election will take place on September 25. The KMT calls on all party members to actively vote for the candidate that they find most ideal, who is to lead the KMT forward in major elections and challenges that lie ahead in 2022 and 2024.
